I want to run for a cause..

I want to run for a cause!

I want to run for a cause!!

I want to run for a cause!!!

I want to run for a cause!!!!

It’s funny how you can say these words using same letters and with the same words. Maybe with the same importance. The thing is, they are pronounced with different ways, with different expressions and with different punctuations. Definitely with different meanings.

Updates
icon1 fishoi | icon2 Goal, Roadblock | icon4 10 1st, 2008| icon33 Comments »

Sooo.. I am still confused on what I really wanted to happen with my life but I’m quite satisfied on the progress and even happier where I am now. As my previous entry says, I already have a new job and I love it. Going to office never felt so infuriating. It feels like going to my playground and amuses myself with inexhaustible puzzles, only, it’s more complicated. Things have to change and I’m proud of myself, I took the risk. And now, here I am, too damn proud.

Plans? I want to enroll for Technology Management in U.P next (or next next) year. But before that, I would want to take a SQL Server Certification. Yes, the nerdiness in me hits me. I am trying to self study and make myself bore stiff with books/ebooks/sites that talks about SQL Server configuration. But yes, weird thing is I’m actually enjoying it. That means I am on the right track of my roadblocks. I am going in the right intersections eh.

But how about those extra-curricular activities? I haven’t found my ‘hobby’. Well technically, my hobby or better yet you’ll find me reading books, cook and eat, watch movie, waste time with my laptop (her name is Helena, by the way :) pronounced as He-ley-na which means Light), doing nasty crafts, and…… that’s it! I can’t believe that’s it. Sheesh. Good news, a friend is involved with some sort of travelling. They explore Philippines’ nature at its best – in mountains, seas, land and forest. He said, they even visit some of Philippines’ never been explored islands and places. Well that thought already excites me. One time he asked me to join their trip on Cagbalete Quezon but unfortunately rainy days is ‘in’ right now and the travel was postponed. Oh I hate rainy days. Ugh. Plus, I’m looking for that ‘something’ where I will devote my time on it. As in seriously put ‘me’ into it. I haven’t seen it, haven’t found, I even haven’t had a glimpse of it. They say, when you’re too eager finding it, it won’t show up and keeps on hiding. It will be revealed in an unexpected time. But I will keep my mouth shot for now. I want to silently looking and searching for that ‘something’ so that ‘something’ won’t hear me.

Interesting. Mostly literature. If you are a bookworm and you’re a girl (or guys!) read these books. But for me, I only read one listed on those list - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I even watched the classic movie of this.

These selections were listed by Jezebel after Esquire listed the 75 books every Man should read. Better check it out! 20 books every women should read

I just can’t believe it. It was the only song on my playlist I listened to the whole day. Nice trip.

foodie buddy
icon1 fishoi | icon2 search | icon4 09 4th, 2008| icon31 Comment »

While Keko is out of the country - rooming around Asia, America and possibly Europe.. then I only have me to deal with. I have no automatic buddy. So I’m looking for one. A foodie buddy! You read that right. No criterias, no standards and definitely no certain levels. Someone who would just come with me whereever I want to eat, talk and maybe not talking at all. Someone who is overly excited to taste different variety of food and explore any frantic places anywhere.

Friends are busy. They are busy. He is busy. I am busy. Maybe I am just looking for someone who will made himself available for me always. This silly idea is not like Barney Stinson’s search for his wing man. But I am seriously looking for this buddy. I need one. I’m just too jaded these days. I’m so stressed with my daily routines. I’m just too tired staying at my room… waiting. So, yes, I’m in search. But beware, sometimes I’m such a bore.

Go waste your time with me!

Part of my job is to explore, analyze, assess and test applications thru web.

As per our reliable friend Google and also according to Google’s blog, they have intoduced Google Chrome. You should try this. Chrome offers newer happenings and never before seen features from other web browsers. O ye, again, read their blog! Not surprisingly, Microsoft won’t allow Google to take its lead and get all the praises. Introducing Internet Explorer 8.

Before I go in with my run-in-to’s, both are Beta versions for now. Enjoy!

BIBO Kids
icon1 fishoi | icon2 Service, happiness | icon4 09 1st, 2008| icon3No Comments »

An amazing experience was given to me last Saturday. I just wished I was able to experience and stayed longer than the usual scheduled hour.

My inspiring experience started in BIBO or Bata Ikaw ang Bukas Outreach program. This focuses on the academic improvement and values enhancement of the underprivileged kids of BASECO. As you all know, BASECO is situated in Tondo Manila. This community is built along side of Pasig River where they are given little electricity and is rationed once or twice (or thrice) of water a week. There are number of organizations that help this community. Gawad Kalinga for example who helps provides houses for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. While Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon (ALNP) focuses on teaching or tutoring kids of grade2, 3 and 4 on their academic and values development.

I was given this chance, when Belle, an officemate of mine invited me to do some lectures to the kids. I excitedly said Yes.

It’s Saturday. The meeting time is 8:30-9pm in KFC Buendia, Makati. I was not familiar with the place but I was able to come on time. Yay! We took our seats in a yellow bus. You know Forest Gump’s school bus? That! Only, it is a Filipino version of a bus. It was a fun experience. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. When we reached BASECO, we walked our way on the side of the Pasig River. Really. The view of the South Port is charming. The sun is shining and favoring our visit. People are smiling. Living their simplest way. Even how plain their life is, they still manage to be happy.

Now the kids. They are 30-40 kids waiting for us. Their genuine smile welcomed us. You can see how much they wanted to learn. They are eager to listen on every word you would utter. They are very attentive. They are smart and witty.

Bata Ikaw ang Bukas Outreach program

So the group activity began. I was able to teach 6 kids – Christian, Angelo, Leyeen, Angelica and Zar. The lesson for that day was about enhancing their reading comprehension, able to communicate in English and how to say polite words like ‘thank you’, ‘you’re welcome’, ‘please’ and ‘excuse me’.  Sheesh, they are attentive. They are curious. They hunger for knowledge. They wanted to learn.

We had our book readings too. The kids are waiting for their turn to read a stanza. Saying, ‘ako naman ate, please’.

Then the last part of the day ended with ‘Old Mc Donald had a Farm’ song. They had fun. We had fun. Unfortunately, it has to end after the 2 – 3 hour session. We say our goodbyes to the kids.

I can see on their eyes that the time given to them is not enough. I felt it too. The 2 -3 hour session is not enough. The once a month 2 – 3 hour session is not enough. Ooohh! How I wish this opportunity should take a day once a week. These kids deserves better. These kids should be given more. These kids are starving for hopes, wishes, dreams and promises. It should be given to them freely. I want to help these kids in whichever way I can.  I want to share what I know and what I want them to learn. They should be treated special.

I definitely will come next month.

Strangeness
icon1 fishoi | icon2 Personal, Stuff | icon4 09 1st, 2008| icon3No Comments »

Bizarre.

I have these wonderful pair of slippers. Having it was beyond anything else.  I always use it. I crave for it. I can’t live without it. But if you could count how many months, days or hours I spent my time with it. Spending without it is definitely longer than the hours spent using it. If I were to tally the total of 12, I indulged myself for about 5 unacceptable long period of shallowness. Heck, where’s the missing 7? I keep on missing that 7. Maybe more on the next 12 or 24 or 36. I don’t know.

This is more than odd.
